A serious dental emergency, such as a knocked-out tooth or injury to your mouth, can be a frightening experience. We can help with same-day emergency dental care. Call us right away if you have an emergency. Please note that emergency services are restricted to existing patients.
There are some things you can do at home to reduce pain and increase your chances of successful treatment prior to coming to our office.
Over the counter painkillers like Ibuprofen can bring relief from pain and discomfort. You may also find some relief by applying an ice pack to the affected area, but take care not to place the ice pack directly over the injury and only use gentle pressure.
If you have broken a crown, filling, brace, or other appliance in your mouth, carefully check for broken pieces and remove them to reduce the risk of choking.
Teeth can sometimes be saved after being knocked out or broken. If possible, try to put a knocked-out tooth back into the socket. This will increase the chance it can be saved. If you can’t replace the tooth, or if the tooth is broken off, bring the pieces of the tooth with you to your appointment. It helps to place the tooth in a glass of milk or cold water. Don’t try to clean the tooth before bringing it.
