New Patients

Welcome to West Coast Family Dental and thanks for choosing us as your family dentist! Here are a few things to help you prepare your first visit to our office.

Your First Visit

When you come for your first visit please bring your insurance card and benefits booklets as well as a list of any medications you’re currently taking.

First visits usually take two hours. We’ll talk to you about your dental health and any issues you might have, and then we’ll clean and examine your teeth. At the end of the appointment we’ll talk about anything we may have found and work out a treatment plan with you.

When you arrive at our office, we’ll ask you to complete a health questionnaire. Please bring the following info with you to help you fill it out:

  • Your family doctor name and contact info
  • Any current health issues (diabetes, allergies, heart conditions)
  • Your last dentist and the date of your last dental visit
  • Details about any dental work such as root canal treatment, orthodontics, or oral surgery

If possible, please let us know before your appointment if your previous dentist has any X-rays or reports so we can request this information before you come to our office.


We’ll help you navigate your insurance coverage, but your insurance policy and payment for your treatment is your responsibility. Some insurance companies don’t share coverage information with dental practices. Please note that there may be a significant difference between what your insurance will cover and the cost of the treatment we recommend.

Your payment is due when we provide services to you. This includes any insurance co-payment or deductible. We will directly bill your insurer for services and give them 45 days to issue payment. However, if they haven’t paid us after 60 days, we’ll send you a statement for your outstanding balance.

We accept payment by cash, cheques, and credit card. If you have any questions about payment, please speak to our front desk staff while you’re booking your appointment.


We ask that you provide 48 hours’ advance notice if you need to cancel an appointment. We may charge $50 to your account if you miss an appointment or cancel less than 48 hours before an appointment. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee if you miss or cancel an appointment that’s longer or part of a series of scheduled appointments.
